Well, the first day of Summer was June 21st, this past Friday… and it was a beautiful day! The sun was shining all day, the temperatures were in the 80′s and the motel rooms were full of people from all over the world, here to visit beautiful Cape Cod. We are very excited to begin the Summer season in Eastham. The past few days have been a great beginning, with sun, sun and more sun… lots of biking, beaching, walking, eating, shopping and relaxing going on around here. If you have not booked your stay at the Town crier Motel in Eastham yet, give us a call as soon as possible, as Summer is the busiest time of year here on Cape Cod.
The Orleans Firebirds are a local Cape Cod baseball team, who’s home base is just one town over from Eastham in Orleans. They have games throughout the Summer, and many of them are right in Orleans, making for a fun evening with the family. Just grab a blanket, some beach chairs, some bug spray and head on down to Eldredge Park and enjoy a baseball game for the whole family. There is also a playground right at the field, so the little kids can run and play while the adults watch the game!

This weekend we were very lucky to enjoy beautiful weather here in Eastham on Cape Cod. The sun was shining bright, the wind was just right, and the beaches were the perfect spot to enjoy a long walk along the waters edge. We even saw a rainbow at Nauset Light Beach, towards the end of the day, it was a wonderful weekend, especially for those visiting from out of town. You could not ask for better weather to enjoy all of the great activities this town has to offer such as: biking, hiking, dining, shopping, golfing and more! Come and visit us soon!
Doane Rock is located only minutes away from the Town Crier Motel by car or bike. Doane Rock is a glacial erratic on the grounds of the Cape Cod National Seashore. It is the largest exposed boulder on Cape Cod. Named after one of Eastham’s original settlers, John Doane. It stands 18 feet high and extends below the ground an estimated 12 feet. Parking is available. A great activity to enjoy with the kids, and there is also a trail you can walk leading to Coast Guard Beach, which goes over the marshlands, starting at Doane Rock.
Grab a friend or family member and enjoy free fishing on June 1st and 2nd. You won’t need a fishing license to fish any waterbody for these two days. There are many great beaches and ponds right here in Eastham to enjoy some fishing at. All ages welcomed, fishing can be a fun activity for the entire family. Whether you are an avid fisherman or a just enjoy throwing a line in once in a while, free fishing weekend is the time to do it.
