Windmill Weekend Kickoff at Eastham-Orleans Elks Lodge

Today starting at 5pm the Eastham-Orleans Elks lodge will be hosting the Windmill Weekend Fish and Chicken fry. The evening will be kicked off with a swing band Sentimental Journey, playing their music on the main stage outside from 6:15pm to 7:15pm. Starting at 5:30pm you can enjoy a burger, fries, chicken, fish and more. Then there will be a talent show on the main stage starting at 7:45pm. Don’t miss out on the fun and exciting event that is perfect for the entire family. The Elks Lodge is located only minutes from the Town Crier Motel, you could even walk it is soo close!

Easthams Windmill Weekend September 11-13, 2009

This years thirty second annual Windmill Weekend will be held on September 11, 12 and 13. Windmill Weekend has a little something for everyone. To kick off the weekend there will be a fish and chicken fry at the Eastham/Orleans Elks Club. There will be a band playing some great music outside on stage. There will also be a talent show on stage and awards ceremony. There will be a craft show at Nauset High School on Saturday from 10 to 4. Head back to the Elks lodge on Saturday afternoon for a vehicle show. Then Sunday morning there will be a pancake breakfast held at the Elks lodge. At the windmill green there will be booths setup with activities for everyone, raffles, local organizations and more. On Sunday afternoon there will be a parade starting at Brackett Road and goes all the way to the windmill green.

Collectors World….Shopping in Eastham

Collectors World is located just up the street from the Town Crier Motel and has a great assortment of fine products. They have many items from sterling jewelry to lamps and oriental items. You can find baseball gloves in many sizes to Harbor Lights collection paintings. They are open year round from 10am to 5pm. You can view some of their collections right online and you can even call to make a purchase at 1-800-421-4270. Stop by the shop while on your next vacation to the Cape and browse their vast selection of products and maybe you will find something interesting to buy or something you have been looking for.

Hazy Hot and Humid

The weather outside is very hot, humid and sunny! Great weather for a beach day or a nice ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. There is so much to do on the lower Cape including: biking, hiking, mini golf, shopping, ice cream and so much more. Come on down to the Town crier and enjoy our large indoor pool and our poolside breakfast. Summer will be over before we know it, enjoy your sunny vacation right away!

Rainy Day Activities

Cape Cod has a lot to offer even when it rains. If you think that you will be bored on the Cape on a rainy day, think again! Right here in Eastham there are many things to do on a rainy day. The National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor Center is located just up the street from the Town Crier and is a great place to visit. They have exhibits, realistic models, displays and guided tours of the salt pond. View more about the visitor center here. The Gift Barn and arcade offers family fun for hours. Play some great games and win some great toys. The Gift Barn also has penny candy and pizza and more! You can also browse the many antiques shops that are right here in Eastham.

Eastham’s Annual Antiques Sale and Show 8-8-2009

Located just up the street at the Schoolhouse Museum on Schoolhouse Road there will be an antiques sale and show. The show starts at 9am and runs until 4pm. There are 48 local and regional antiques dealers signed up to be at the show already. The cost is $4.00 and there will be a bake sale table as well. Stop on by and browse some great antiques and finds. You may leave with a great find, or you may just want to reminisce of times past. For more info view their website here.

3 Sisters Lighthouse Tours

During the Summer months the 3 Sisters Lighthouses in Eastham have tours. On Sundays and Tuesdays you can learn some interesting facts and history about these lighthouses. At 5pm and for 1 hour you can tour the lighthouses and stroll through the Eastham trails learning about the importance of a lighthouse. The start of the tour is at the Nauset beach parking lot just 1/4 mile from the lighthouses. You will then have a guided walking tour to the lighthouses as well as a chance to see the inside of them. This is a great activity to do with the family at the end of a long day at the beach.

Eastham Painters Guild Presents – Fine Art Today 7/24/09

Today at the Eastham Schoolhouse Museum the Eastham Painters Guild will be presenting local artwork. The Schoolhouse Museum is located just 1/2 mile from the Town Crier Motel and is a great place to enjoy. You can even go inside of the Schoolhouse and see how the school was setup back in the day. They have old school desks and other historic items on display. The Eastham Painters Guild has been presenting at the Schoolhouse for more than 24 years. If you are a local painter or a visiting painter and would like to paint with the Eastham Painters guild, you can join them every Tuesday from May to October weather permitting. Fish and Chicken Fry at the Eastham Elks Lodge

Today from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Orleans-Eastham Elks lodge there will be a fish and chicken fry. Bring the whole family and join some locals for a fun and friendly atmosphere. The Elks lodge is located within walking distance of the Town Crier Motel, although taking a car may be your best bet as the lodge is located on the opposite side of Rt. 6. The weather outlook for today calls for sun, sun and more sun. Today is a great day to go for a bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant, walk the local beaches and shop at the local art galleries and book stores.

Windmill Green Concert Today 7/13/09

Today at the Windmill Green just up the street from the Town Crier you can enjoy music by local musicians: Tall Heights, Tim Harrington and Paul Wright. Every Monday throughout the Summer there are new concerts at the Windmill Green. Bring your family, a blanket and your ears and enjoy an evening of fun with the family. The show starts at 7pm and lasts for about 1 hour.

Hot Sunny and 75 Degrees!

We could not ask for better weather! Finally, the sun has come out and we have had 4 days of beautiful hot sunny weather. This 4th of July was one of the best weekends we have had here on the Cape this Summer so far. It finally feels like Summer has begun. After all of the rain we have been having, it is a joy to go outside and feel the hot sun and actually enjoy it! The pool has been hopping here at the Town Crier. Families have been flocking to the Cape to enjoy this great weather. The Fireworks display that was seen from First Encounter beach on July 3rd was very fun and exciting and the beach was packed with excited onlookers. Come on down to the Town Crier soon and enjoy a long stroll on the local beaches, or take a bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. The activities on Cape Cod are endless.

4th of July on Cape Cod

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and the weather should be just perfect. After all of the rainy weather we have had this past month, the rest of the summer should be gorgeous. This weekend will be fun filled starting with July 3rd with a Air National Guard Band of the Northeast Concert at the National Seashore Visitor Center just up the street from the Town Crier. Then On the evening of July 3rd there will be fireworks that can be seen from any bay side Eastham beach. On July 4th at the Eastham Schoolhouse Museum there will be an old fashioned celebration with lemonade, cookies, and ice cream from 1-4pm. Come on down to the Cape and enjoy a great fun filled weekend this 4th of July with the family!

It has been raining for so long that I cannot even remember what the sun looks like. Luckily this past Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day, even though the weather channel had predicted rain all day. On Saturday I saw people out riding bikes, walking dogs, eating ice cream, walking the beaches and mini golfing right next door at Arnolds restaurant. When the sun does come out Eastham livens and there is soo much to enjoy. I really do hope that this rain will stop very soon so we can move on into Summer. The fourth of July is just around the corner and we need some great weather so we can enjoy the fireworks shows and the local parades.

Eastham Chamber Beach Cookout July 1st

On July 1st from 5-8pm there will be a cookout at First Encounter Beach in Eastham. The cookout is being sponsored by the Eastham Chamber of Commerce and there will be plenty of food and refreshments. All food will cost only $1-2 and the proceeds will benefit Eastham non profit groups such as: Cape Cod Children’s Place, the ECEC -Eastham Committee on Early Childhood, and the Boy Scouts. There will be an AWESOME grilling station that is located on the back of a huge converted oil truck. All stainless steel construction and a great sight for the kids to enjoy. There will also be music by Eric’s Steel Drum Band. Everyone is invited and there is no fee to join.
